After graduating from Boston University, Karin served on the start-up team of City Year New York. The following year, she founded the first ESOL program in the rural cloud-forest village of Mindo, Ecuador. Living in Ecuador sparked an interest in sustainable food and upon her return to New York, Karin worked at Teachers College, Columbia University's LiFE (Linking Food and the Environment) Program, an award-winning, food-based science curriculum. She then spent three years at the Food Bank for New York City, advising and monitoring the City's 1,000+ soup kitchens and food pantries. At the Food Bank, Karin was nominated for and won a United Way Junior Fellowship. Craving immediate, direct knowledge of food/agriculture, she began working as a residential apprentice at Hava V'Adam Ecological Farm in Modiin, Israel in September 2008. Karin is currently consulting for LEKET-Bank Mazon, Israel's food bank.
