Whether in Rio de Janeiro, Manuelaís birthplace and home to extended family; Evanston, where she grew up; Boston, where she attended university; New York, where her parents live; or Beijing, where she now works, Judaism is the constant. Studying in the Social Studies department at Harvard, Manuela specialized in development in Latin America; ìafter hoursî she was anchored to the arts community as dancer, choreographer, producer and director. As a writer and editor for Letís Go travel guides, Manuela began focusing on media and communications. Upon graduating, she pursued the business side of communications as a founding member of the strategy department of McGarryBowen, the largest independent ad agency in New York. Two years later, Manuela came to Beijing on a Princeton-in-Asia Fellowship to pursue journalism and this fall, she will continue studying Mandarin intensively at Tsinghua University and intend to develop an online publication focused on agricultural development.
