Manuela Zoninsein is a Brazilian-American writer who has been covering Greater China from Beijing and Taipei for the last three years. She oversees Mandarin content for Dell’s “Take Your Own Path” campaign as Asia Bureau Chief and regularly reports for Newsweek magazine, the Engineering News-Record and Monocle; prior to that, she served as the dining editor of Time Out Beijing. A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Manuela grew up in Evanston, Illinois, and spent a year working on the commodities exchange floor of the Chicago Board of Trade before moving east to attend Harvard University, where she received a degree in Social Studies and a Certificate in Latin American Studies. She is interested in the intersection of food, agriculture and the environment. Her conviction that information and technology exchange can serve as tools for development and sustainability led her to establish AgriGate, a business intelligence newsletter focused on the agritech landscape. She will continue to explore China’s agricultural policies in the MSc program in Modern Chinese Studies at Oxford University in October 2010.

AgriGate, a business intelligence newsletter, is your gateway to understanding the business of agriculture and agritech in China. We provide a monthly subscription-only publication filled with news and information focused on the key organizations, leaders, policies and innovations in this field, enabling Israeli and American businesses, technologies and actors to compete in the Chinese market. Agriculture constitutes nearly 12 percent of China’s GDP and employs 300 million, or half the country’s labor supply. Arable land has reached capacity, yet environmental degradation and evolving consumption habits mean that land must be more efficiently and sustainably utilized. AgriGate will help your company and technology to help China.
