Coming to Jerusalem in June!

‘Cities of Light’: A Dazzling Jewish Cabaret of Berlin, Tel Aviv, Warsaw & Paris from the 1920s & 1930s

Cities of Light, an original cabaret, written and performed by Rebecca Joy Fletcher, which highlights the Jewish cabarets of Berlin, Tel Aviv, Warsaw and Paris from the 1920s and 1930s, will be staged in Jerusalem on June 19, 21 and 23.

"Jewish artists between the wars flocked to cabaret because it was so quintessentially modern – it was at once satiric and heartfelt," says Fletcher, an actress, playwright and cantor based in Brooklyn, who researched all the archival song material before crafting the show. “Cities of Light weaves an irreverent and fierce tapestry out of that remarkable era and its music: its Berlin tangos, Tel Aviv lullabies, Paris shimmies, and Yiddish tribal romps."

Cities of Light is being brought to Israel by Kol HaOt – a Jerusalem-based organization dedicated to illuminating Jewish life through the performing and visual arts – and by ROI, a global network of Jewish innovators.

The performances will be held at the Martef Theater, 7 Emek Refaim St. (entrance on Patterson St.), German Colony, Jerusalem. The production is in English, with a smattering of German, Hebrew, Yiddish and French. Tickets can be purchased online
