ROI Events

A few years ago, the ROI Community and LimmudLA teamed up to present "Friends of Innovation," a casual get-together for people to meet and network over drinks, and also to schmooze about Jewish life, culture, tradition and innovation (2010 video here).

Then in 2011, Jumpstart and the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles joined ROI and LimmudLA as sponsors of the event, which by then was named "Cocktails for Innovators" (2011 video here).

But 2012 demanded something that was evocative of the warmth and feel of the original, but with a little bit of disruption to challenge the way we think about living and being Jewish in this richly innovative and creative time.

(Jerusalem) On February 1, ROI Community kicks off recruitment for the 2012 Global Summit, to find 150 of the most passionate and creative activists to change the Jewish world and beyond. Specifically, ROI is looking for 20- and 30-somethings who are leading initiatives in social action, environmental activism, arts and culture, media and technology, education, social justice, Israel advocacy, and Jewish peoplehood, to join its 700-strong network in 50 countries. The Summit, ROI’s flagship program, will be held in Jerusalem, June 10-14, 2012.

The 2011 ROI Ibero-American Gathering took place in Argentina in November. It was an incredible 5-day jouney, shared by approximately 50 young Jewish leaders from 15 different Latin American countries.

The media, both Jewish and general, took an interest in this unique gathering of exceptional and committed young adults and news about it was featured online, in print and on the radio.

At the initiative of ROIers themselves, and specifically, organizers Dana Sender and Talia Gorodess (both participants of the 2011 ROI Summit), approximately 50 ROIers arrived at TLV Hub on Tuesday, November 15. TLV Hub is one of those funky open-plan offices that give the impression that working there would be somewhat akin to starring in a quirky and clever office-based sitcom. The feeling of fun and the buzz of creative energies was certainly palpable and the night proved to be more than just a wonderful union of ROIers.
