ROI Member Uses Micro Grant to Aid in Strategic Project Fundraising
I would like to to thank the ROI-team for the Micro-Grant that I received in order to work with the experienced fundraiser Patrick Levy. Patrick and I have, thanks to the grant, been able to elaborate a detailed portfolio of the main funding sources and to pinpoint the ideal partners for the SIMULATED REAL TIME project.
The first part and pilot-study of this project, 32 POSTKARTEN, is built around 32 postcards that my paternal grandparents sent out of Germany during WWII up until the day they were deported. The first of these postcards was published on http://www.32postkarten.com on March 29th 2010, seventy years to the day after it was written. The following 31 postcards have been published online in SIMULATED REAL TIME - on the date they were written, but 70 years later. The last postcard was published on December 6th 2011. 32 POSTKARTEN has received immense interest, especially in Germany and Sweden, where it has been featured on national and regional radio and television, as well as in newspapers and magazines.
Here some examples of the media coverage:
B'nai Brit'h Magazine (US)
Hamburger Abendblatt (Germany)
História Viva (Brazil)
La Oveja (Spain)
Judisk Krönika (Sweden)
Deutsche Welle (Poland)
Based on the success of 32 POSTKARTEN, part two of SIMULATED REAL TIME will open online on the 30th of January 2013, the 80th anniversary of Hitler's rise to power; it will deal with the crucial year 1933 and be based on private letters, diaries and archive material of the time.
Last week, when visiting Berlin, I was able to use the material Patrick and I have elaborated in my contacts with possible future partners. For me as a writer this is a completely new way to work and I am very grateful for this opportunity to cooperate with such an experienced person as Patrick Levy on the fund raising for the project. So, once again thank you ROI for the support and the Micro-Grant.
And, last but not least, my best greetings to all ROIers.
