ROI Grants

Offering Opportunities to More Members

At ROI Community, the more we work with innovators, the more we implement innovative measures into what we do. In 2011 ROI launched its revolutionary Micro Grants program. Through this program ROI is able to offer monetary assistance to more of its members than ever before. In its pilot year, more than 100 members directly benefited from the Micro Grants program.

Paying It Forward: Benefits beyond the ROI Membership

This program was one of the first models of a micro grant program in the Jewish innovation sector and it is generating considerable interest. To help identify and assess the ROI Micro Grant program’s effectiveness, ROI commissioned independent evaluators. As early as the end of 2011, ROI began sharing valuable takeaways from such evaluation so that other organizations may replicate successful aspects of this program and join ROI in making Micro Grants avaialable to young social innovators.

Personal Testimonies:
“We had a great script, an amazing crew, two beautiful actresses… and a lot of momentum. But, two weeks before shooting, we still had no money... Within one day of applying [for a Micro Grant], I received an email that my application was accepted… Plain and simple: The ROI Micro Grant enabled me to produce my very first fictional film.” Maital Guttman used an ROI Micro Grant to create a film that will impact public opinion in Israel and beyond. “My start-up, AgriGate Asia (AGA), is focused on offering business information about China’s sustainable ag-tech opportunities via online channels. So the training and knowledge offered by SMMU (Social Media Marketing University) is critical to ensuring business success… Thanks to the support of a Micro Grant, AgriGate Asia is now bolstered by tactical capabilities…” Manuela Zoninsein used her ROI Micro Grant to gain vital social media skills in order to further the reach of her important work. “Thanks to the ROI Micro Grant, I was able to organize a book launch event for Sternthal Books latest publication… The event allowed me to continue my quest to bring together diverse members of the New York artistic community with emerging visual artists from Israel.” Ian Sternthal’s ROI Micro Grant funded the event described in his blog.

“I wanted to attend the Kigali (Rwanda) meeting to learn how I could merge my work developing a turnkey EMR (currently tracking more than 20,000 patients in Burundi) with OpenMRS. What makes my system unique is its technical simplicity... However, I wished to combine efforts because my system doesn’t allow for the same growth potential and lacks the vibrant support community offered by OpenMRS. With gratitude for the funding from the ROI Micro Grant, I am now on the way to accomplishing my goal.”
