Past Grants
In 2008, Lynn Schusterman announced the first ROI Seed & Innovation Grant Funds. Since then, over $500,000 has been awarded to 35 projects led by ROIers. These grants, that have been offered to both individuals and ROIers collaborating together, have fostered a global, Jewish network and the grants have propelled members towards success. Here is a portfolio of our 2009-2010 grantees:
A team of 19 ROI graduates are collaborating to create Jewcology.com, a new web portal where Jewish-environmentalists can network and share program resources. The site will be enriched with content from Jewish-environmental organizations across the world, and at least ten ROI graduates will write frequent blog postings.

The Bible Raps Project uses the medium of rap music within to promote our core Jewish texts—currently perceived by much of the youth market as boring, irrelevant and stale—and instead, present them as rich sources of meaning, drama, and inspiration. Or, in the words of a 13 year old listener, "cool!”.

Challah for Hunger bakes and sells challah to raise money and awareness for social justice causes. In the process, CfH builds community and bridges between communities, trains leaders, teaches critical philanthropy and change-making, and inspires. CfH started at Scripps College in November, 2004 and now has almost thirty chapters, mostly on college campuses in the U.S.

Omanoot seeks to strengthen Jewish identity and develop enhanced relationships with Israel by portraying on its website an engaging, multi-faceted and diverse image of the country through contemporary Israeli arts and culture. The innovative Omanoot website provides universal accessibility to films, music, visual arts, literature and creative out-of-the-box educational materials and programming.

Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, El Toratrón® is a Jewish educational theatre ensemble that presents a variety of innovative shows with Biblical and Jewish themes. Through a fusion and adaptations of different performance techniques such as role playing, musical theater, story theater and educational theater, El Toratrón® brings to life the characters and wisdom from the Torah, the Hebrew Bible, while inviting the audience to dive in the stories, Holy days and passages from the Sacred Book and its teachings.
