Jonathan Lev, the Boulder JCC’s Executive Director, is a passionate educator and entrepreneur. He combines his experience in directing Jewish summer camp with founding a Boulder-based renewable choice energy. Certified as high school teacher, Jonathan graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado in Boulder. For more than six years, Jonathan was a leader in the field of Jewish summer camps where he worked to enhance the level of supervision and mentorship for both campers and staff through innovative summer and year-round trainings. In 2007, Jonathan was selected as a Taub Fellow at New York University in the dual-master’s degree program for a Master in Public Administration in nonprofit management and Master in Hebrew and Judaic Studies. He and his wife, Lyndsay, can be found on hiking trails, skiing, listening to music and planning their next great adventure.
Jonathan joined the Boulder Jewish community in 2010, when the JCC began a capital campaign to design a new building. He works tirelessly to engage the broader community and bring innovative ideas and forward thinking to this smaller Jewish community. One primary area of focus has been engaging the next generation of Jewish philanthropists and connecting them with meaning and a lifetime of giving Jewishly. In this way, over 50% of the Boulder JCC board is comprised of people under the age of 45 and the entire executive committee is under 50. Recently, Jonathan helped coordinate two fundraisers with a record-breaking attendance of 1,000 people. In addition, he has focused on utilizing network theory to build a community of Boulder Jews ages 21 - 45. Through his leadership, this group has become more active and engaged and now the participants plan events for others.
