Joshua Avedon is the Co-founder and COO of Jumpstart, an incubator, think tank and catalyst for sustainable Jewish innovation. Jumpstart is working across the globe to empower a new generation of Jewish organizations that are providing unique and compelling gateways into Jewish life. Joshua is a recognized leader in forward-thinking use of technology, viral communication and community-building strategies within the world of emerging Jewish organizations. He is also one of the founders of IKAR, one of the largest and most successful Jewish Emergent communities in the country. His AJU master’s thesis on IKAR’s first year, examines how its founders used best practices from the for-profit management world, tipping point strategies, and intentional social networking to create a dynamic new model for Jewish spiritual community. Joshua is married to Stephanie Avedon, and they have three children: Elias, Navi and Sarit. His family lives in Venice, CA.
