Julie Ariella Wyler grew up in Switzerland. She has traveled much and had the opportunity to live in various places, including Beijing, New York, Hawaii and the Dominican Republic. These experiences were very important for Julie’s education and development. She learned to communicate with people from different places, cultures and languages. After earning her Bachelor's degree in special education from the University of Geneva, Julie received a Master’s in international education and cross-cultural communication from New York University. That was where she discovered the compelling narrative of the Ethiopian Jews. Her interest in this community, its traditions and its dream of reaching Jerusalem, led her to focus her research on the integration of Ethiopian Jews in Israel and the identity changes they underwent. Out of a similar yearning for Zion, Julie made aliyah in 2009 and was overjoyed to join Tebeka’s team, helping serve the complex needs of the Ethiopian Israeli community.
