Matt Bar is the founder of Bible Raps, an innovative educational tool that uses rap and hip hop to enliven the core Jewish texts. He has been featured on MTV’s “The Real World” and NBC’s “Hip Hop Nation: Notes from the Underground.” He has opened for the Grammy-winning group Outkast as well as for Hasidic Jewish reggae musician Matisyahu. The Bible Raps Project is an outgrowth of the success and excitement Matt discovered when he introduced Bible raps into his classroom. Matt was a fellow at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies (2009) and the PresenTense Institute in Jerusalem (2007), and participant in the 2008 ROI Summit. Matt’s Bible Raps can be found at Bibleraps.com and facebook.com/bibleraps. Original Bible raps by participants can be heard at biblerapsnation.com.
