Ofer Berkovitch is 25 years old, and is the co-founder and chairman of the Wake-Up Jerusalem (Hitorerut) movement. He is the Jerusalem city councilman on behalf of the Hitorerut-Yerushalmim party. Born and raised in Jerusalem, Ofer is a graduate of Leyda High School. He spent most of his childhood as a member of the Boy Scouts movement and played various leadership roles, including serving as a youth instructor and head of instructors. In addition, Ofer was a producer of cultural and nightlife events in Jerusalem.
In 2002, Ofer was drafted to the IDFís prestigious air force training school. Later, he was transferred to a classified army unit and after undergoing a vast amount of training, he moved on to the IDF's officers course, which he graduated with excellence. Ofer completed six years of service in the army, all in combat duty, and was discharged as a captain. In the past year Ofer has initiated and established the Wake-Up Jerusalem movement. He has also been working part-time for a startup company dealing with UAVs. Ofer enjoys hiking, sports (soccer, jogging) and cinema.
