Omri Marcus is a creative director and comedy writer based in Tel Aviv, currently working on an exclusive, multi-year deal with the European media conglomerate ProSiebenSat.1. In 2009, EMC, the Format Academy for Entertainment, Television & New Media, awarded Omri its prestigious fellowship. As a director in the development department of Israel’s leading TV network, Channel 2, Omri is credited with the creation of the original reality series, Buzz Off. The show was short-listed for C21 Media International Format Awards in 2009. Over the last ten years, Omri has been involved in the development and writing of numerous major entertainment shows on Israeli TV. Among his successes is Eretz Nehederet (What a Wonderful Country), a sketch comedy show that regularly reaches ratings of over 30% and has won four Israeli Academy Awards. Omri also writes regularly for numerous leading American and European papers and blogs (Huffington Post, TV Gawker, Jewcy, etc.) about Israeli current affairs and TV business. Over this past year he gave lectures about TV at New York University MIP (Cannes, France), NY TV Festival (New York, USA), IMA Summit (Tel-Aviv, Israel), IDC's content lab (Herzelya, Israel), HIT (Holon, Israel) and the last TALA Master-Class in Tel-Aviv.
In his spare time, Omri volunteers as head of PR for Eye from Zion, a humanitarian organization that performs free medical surgeries in Third World countries. The organization, established by his father in 2007, saved the sight of hundreds of people (mainly children) around the world under the flag of the State of Israel and the Jewish people.
