Stephanie Grunvald was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. She was an active member of the Socialist Zionist youth movement Hashomer Hatzair. At the age of 18, she spent almost a year in Israel where she volunteered and learned Hebrew on several kibbutzim. After returning to Uruguay, she worked as a groups and logistics coordinator for international programs for Hillel Uruguay. For a few months she took the helm of the International and Tzedek Department of Hillel Uruguay until December 2010. She is currently involved in the coordination of social programs such as "Leaves of testimony" together with Yad Vashem and Tzedek Hillel. In 2011, she joined the group of New Generations of the Latin American Jewish Congress. Stephanie received a degree in international relations from the University of the Republic and she is a teaching assistant for two undergraduate courses.
